Most Wanted Items At The Pantries

Typically at a food pantry, one would think that the most wanted item is food. Yes, this normally is the case, but there are also so many other things that pantries, and the people that use them, need. Here is a list of the top ten most needed things at food pantries and food banks all around the country (cited from http://www.todaysparent.com):

  • Healthy cereals and oatmeals
  • Underwear and socks (and other clothing items)
  • Kids’ snack items (juice boxes, individual applesauces, etc.)
  • Toilet paper
  • Diapers and wipes
  • Jars and pouches of baby food
  • Personal hygiene products, like sanitary pads
  • Toiletries like toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant, lip balm
  • Canned foods (ex: beans, fish, vegetables, ham, etc)
  • Dry pasta

As you can see, this list does not just contain food items, it contains things like clothes, baby supplies, hygiene products, etc. I think that if we could have more fundraisers for not only food supplies, but also the household products that every family needs, we can make a change for the better. My no1hungry fundraiser is soon going to launch our clothing drive to supply the Shelter Rock Church Food Pantry with the necessary clothing that it needs to spread to those all over the community.
