Many people may be concerned with coming to the food pantries due to the status of the many Covid cases looming about, but this should not be a concern. At both Community Solidarity and the Shelter Rock Church Food Pantry, every volunteer is required to wear a mask. In addition, every person who comes to get food is required to wear a mask if they are either inside the pantry or are coming without a car (which in this case would mean that they walked over and will make direct contact with others). Those who come in cars are encouraged to wear masks, but do not have to. With all of the new variations of Covid effecting people all over the country, food pantries have geared up to prevent any cases from spreading about to its volunteers or customers.
I know from first hand experience how much care is put into the pantries in making sure that as few people as possible will make contact with a person who has Covid. Masks are strictly enforced all over the pantries, especially at the Shelter Rock Church Food Pantry which is mainly indoors. I have not met a single volunteer at the Shelter Rock Church Food Pantry who has gotten Covid from volunteering or who has had Covid recently in general. This goes to show the measures of safety that food pantries are taking these days to keep Covid away from our communities while still getting food out to those in need.
