At the pantries, I have seen that often there are more volunteers during the holiday seasons. Whether this is simply a coincidence, or because during these times more people want to give something back, I do not know. However, there are also more people coming to the pantries to get food at these times. At the pantry in Hempstead that I attend, Community Solidarity, the holiday seasons often are responsible for the largest donations of the year. Especially on Thanksgiving. On each Sunday before Thanksgiving, Community Solidarity has a HUGE event where hundreds of people come to get food, and over 100 volunteers come too. It is truly a great event and if anybody reading this has free time on the weekend before Thanksgiving, they should for sure attend as many people are in need of food over the holidays.
